Chiltern Railways make 300 free parking places available to Chiltern 100 riders at Great Missenden Station on 1st June.
Chiltern Railways are happy to partner the Chiltern Hundred cyclosportive by making 300 parking places available for free to riders in the sportive at Great Missenden Station.
Chiltern Railways, who operate the rail passenger services from London Marylebone, through the Chilterns, to Birmingham Snow Hill, are already big community players, with sponsorship of events across their route.
Details of Chiltern Railways services can be found at www.chilternrailways.co.uk. This is another way in which Chiltern Railways can play its part in the local community, which it serves.
On arrival at Station car park in Great Missenden, participants will be given a free parking pass for display and directed to the car park made available by Chiltern Railways.
Riders should then prepare themselves and their bikes before cycling down the High Street to event Headquarters at Misbourne School. At the HQ riders must sign on, collect their number, route map/instructions, and transponder. Riders can also take refreshments at the HQ and meet up with friends before starting their ride.
Lead organiser of the sportive, Eddie Spriggs, said “This is really great news as Great Missenden, has limited car parking. For riders arriving after 07:30 this is the place to park as the School car park will be full. It will also show that cyclists for these big cycle events are concerned about minimising disruption to the local community.”
Did you know?
Chiltern Railways realised that they needed to get more cars off the road, so they developed ‘three for free’. This gives a free car parking space at any time of the day to those passengers who decide to share a lift to the station with two other rail passengers.
However, Chiltern Railways want to increase the amount of cars off the road, so they decided in January to launch Chiltern Carshare. In order to so this, they teamed up with Liftshare, a social enterprise set up in 1997. This means that passengers are able to find other people making the same journeys as them. Although primarily aimed at car users, you can also find people to keep you company on your walk or cycle ride to the station. Chiltern Railways do not charge for this service and it’s a simple way to reduce congestion and pollution as well as being an easy way to save money.
If you travel from a Chiltern Railways station, why not join today at www.chilterncarshare.co.uk.
