Phil O'Connor signs up to photograph this year's C100
We are pleased to announce that event photography will be provided by Phil O’Connor, who has photographed cycling professionally for over 25 years. During this time Phil’s work has been published in specialist magazines and the general media across the world. His career as a professional cycling photographer has taken him to 24 different countries, 5 summer and 1 winter Olympic Games and the last 25 Tours de France.
Phil has recognised the growing importance of cyclosportives within the UK cycling community and he has set up www.sportivephoto.com as a professional photographic service. During the event Phil will be out on the course, accompanied by two colleagues to ensure excellent coverage on all three routes. With two photographers on the Gran and Medio routes and one photographer on the Corto route, we’re confident that all riders will have a good choice of images to view after the event. Riders will be issued with a numberboard for identification, and photos will be available for purchase online as well as on Hi Res CD. It is the intention that photos will be available 48 hours after the event.
Commenting on his involvement with the Chiltern Hundred Phil said “I am delighted to be associated with this very well organised event and will endeavour along with the other photographers to provide as high a quality photographic service as possible which I hope will bring back many memories for the riders.” We are confident that Phil O’Connor’s photographic services will help ensure that the Chiltern Hundred is a great event.

Team entry is fully subscribed
The team take up for the Chiltern Hundred Challenge sportive, to be held 1/6/08, has been a huge hit and team registration is now closed. 21 teams have been accepted and all 200 places made available have been assigned to the teams.
The concept of “Teams” has been unprecedented within the UK cyclosport scene, until now. The Chiltern Hundred recognises the extra fun to be had from riding as part of your own regular team. The event organisers also understand the impossibility of entering a team in cyclosportives and getting all team riders to collectively get their entries in within 48 hours or less before events sell out.
To sort this issue and to maximise the fun to be had, the Chiltern Hundred sportive offers groups of riders a guaranteed way to get up to 12 riders onto the start line as a team. This has proved attractive to all types of groups from cycle clubs, tri clubs, work mates, non-work mates, and charities alike. The teams are as follows:
Thames Velo
Team Deloitte
Verulam CC
CS (Credit-Suisse)
PSOF (Pirate Ship of Fools)
Ranch Cycling
Fireflies
Beyond Mountain Bike
OUCC (Oxford University CC)
Morley Fund Management
Ealing Golds
High Wycombe CC - infrastructure Finance - Professional IT - Cycle Care
Cycle Club Luton
OCW Velo Club
West Kent Road Club
British Airways CC
Club Panthers Cycling
Serpentine Girls Tri Squad
Team Bedford
The Etape Virgins
'Trois Jours en Enfer'
As to how teams will ride together remains to be seen. Lead organiser Eddie Spriggs said, “Most will at least start together. But this is a very hilly sportive and as the hills kick in only the most compatible and determined teams with pre-arrange tactics will stay together.”
In addition to standard awards for individuals, the organisers plan to recognise team effort by having team standard awards too. These will be based on the individual standards achieved by 6 riders of each team. The individual and team standards have yet to be announced by the Chiltern Hundred

Team Entries
The most significant change is to introduce a team event in addition to the individual event. Last year a number of clubs and groups participated. Having entered sportives either alone or in a group I reckon you can have more fun in a group. I also know how difficult it is to get all your mates co-ordinated and signed up by the time an event becomes fully subscribed.
So to make it easier for groups, if you can get a team (a club, a charity, mates, or whatever) of 6 or more riders we will guarantee entries up to an initial maximum of 12. To register as a team your co-ordinator needs to send an email to teams@chiltern-hundred.co.uk and to supply the following details:
- Team name
- Co-ordinator’s name
- Co-ordinator's email address
- Co-ordinator's phone number
- Number of places required (maximum 12, minimum 6, additional places can be arranged if places permit)
200 places have been allotted for team entry. We will guarantee entry up to the number of places required for all registered teams, until all 200 places are taken. At this stage we don’t need to know your riders names.
Following team registration we will send details of how team riders are to complete online entry. The co-ordinator’s role is to get the team’s riders to sign up. We’ll give you more places if you require once your allocated places have been assigned, providing we have places remaining. Team riders provide their details, accept the event disclaimer, and pay online in the normal way just like individual entrants.
The co-ordinator will receive progress reports on team rider registration. For teams that fail to get 6 riders registered by 1st April we will reassign remaining places to other teams. Those riders that are signed up will then be treated as individual entrants.
It’s not just about getting guaranteed places. There will be ride standards for teams just like for individuals. More information is available under teams
